A Pleasant June Afternoon in the Field

(Match Report by Jeff P) June 9, 2024

Twenty-seven participants joined us for our June field target match.  We were greeted by mild temperatures in the low seventies and sunny skies on an early June morning.  As the day progressed, the wind speeds reached a range of 10-15 miles per hour.  The course was set in the field so some of the farther targets became a challenge as wind speed and direction changed.

The Troyer for the course was 30.9, with 12 targets over 40 yards and an average target distance of 34.7 yards.  We had one new shooter to our club, Kelsie Michaud, who shot very well in Hunter PCP with a score of 47.  In the rest of the Hunter PCP field, Ryan Spanagel took top honors with a 53.  Second place was a bit more difficult to determine as when the scores were handed in it became apparent that there was a three-way tie with a score of 49.  Using positional shots and longest clean shot string from where one started the course, second place was awarded to Jamie Marusiak and third place went to Conrad Griffith.

Al Duster shot a very respectable 44 in Hunter Piston and Matt Uhler had a strong performance in WFTF Piston with a 48.

Lucas Marusiak placed third in WFTF PCP with a 47 and Keith Walters with a 50 was awarded second place while Jeff Paddock took top spot with a 54.

The match that gave us a tie score in Hunter PCP also gave us a three-way tie in Unlimited for first place with scores of 58 by Tim Baylor, Dave Hitchcock, and Alan Barker.  Using the same criteria to handle the Hunter PCP tie, it was determined that Tim had first place, Alan had second and Dave had third.

After the match everyone was treated to pizza at the club house.  Several volunteers stayed to help clean up and tear down the course, which was greatly appreciated.

Hopefully everyone enjoyed themselves and for those heading to Fairfield in a week for their monthly match or Sherwood near the end of the month for their first Grand Prix event, we are sure that the experience will help.

Until next month in July, stay safe and shoot well
